Weekends
Girls register and attend the usual morning Prayers on Saturday mornings in College and then take part in our 'Opening Minds' programme. This involves a range of activities distinct from normal curriculum work but designed to extend and enrich the girls' education. Often visiting speakers or groups will talk to a year group or division, girls will be hands-on in a workshop scenario or they may be out of College on theatre trips or fieldwork.
After lunch, a large number of girls will be involved in sports fixtures and spectators are always welcome. However, there are plenty of other things going on over weekends and boarders and day girls alike are welcome to join in.
Some activities may be house-based e.g. art and craft activities or take place at facilities such as the Sports Hall or the swimming pool. There are frequent trips to theatres, museums and theme parks. Shopping sprees in Cheltenham or further afield, near Christmas, are always popular! Sometimes girls attend conferences and competitions to present their work (e.g. Young Enterprise or Paperclip Physics).
There is a full programme of Outdoor Activities at weekends, such as mountain biking, canoeing and orienteering. It is also possible to go horse riding. Houses are happy to organize other activities - anything from baking a cake to organising a social event!
Of course, as girls get older, weekends will increasingly become a time for personal study and research. All houses have areas where girls can study quietly, read for pleasure or relax in front of the TV for a while.
