Junior Day Houses

Bellairs

Exterior of building

Bellairs is the newest junior house founded by Miss T Black in September 1999 and named after one of College's 'founding fathers', The Reverend Henry Walford Bellairs. It was at the house of Reverend Bellairs that the decision was made on 30 September 1853 to "establish in Cheltenham a Proprietary College for the education of Young Ladies". Shortly afterwards, the Reverend Francis Close was offered the honorary position of President of the Council and Mr Bellairs took on the much more active role of Vice-President.

  • What is Bellairs like?

It can be said that what Bellairs lacks in years it makes up for in personality. Members of Bellairs are dynamic, lively, enthusiastic and keen to get involved in a wide variety of activities.  It has an inclusive atmosphere where all are welcome and happy to “have a go”.  The house prides itself on its warm and friendly atmosphere; it is a place where everybody is made to feel comfortable and welcome.

Housemistress

My name is Miss Jeanne Noël. I was born and educated in France where I completed my studies in English and Linguistics at the University of Caen in 2000.  After post graduate studies in Bristol, I joined College in 2001 where I have been and remain a member of the Modern Languages Department.  I now live in Leckhampton in Cheltenham, with Paul, my husband, and our two cats, Dandelion and Burdock.  Outside of school, my interests range from translation, travelling and reading but my real passion is the Normandy countryside surrounding my parents’ farm.
