Curriculum Summaries

In this section, each department has produced a brief overview of the syllabus content for the year groups taught. These summaries give a good indication of the breadth of study required at each stage of a girl's College career. All girls take GCSEs in Mathematics, English Language and Literature and a minimum of two separate sciences is recommended. Most girls will take ten GCSE subjects, four or five AS levels and three or four A2 levels or study the International Baccalaureate Diploma. We offered tremendous possibilities with regard to subject combinations and girls are provided with plenty of opportunity to discuss new subjects at each stage in their education.

Within the summaries, the following abbreviations are used:

  • LC which stands for Lower College and includes LC1, LC2 and LC3. These correspond to National Curriculum Year Groups 7, 8 and 9 respectively.
  • UC for Upper College where UC4 and UC5 are Years 10 and 11 (GCSE)
  • SFC for Sixth Form College where SFC1 is the AS year and SFC2 the A2 year or the International Baccalaureate during SFC1 and SFC2. .

Choices regarding subject combinations have to be made at various points and these include:

  • GCSE choices by Spring Half Term of LC3
  • International Baccalaureate confirmed by December of UC 5 or AS choices confirmed by February of UC5
  • SFC2 subject indications are required by February of SFC1
