Tennis is one of the four major sports that girls take part in during the summer term although some girls play all year round. It is a compulsory part of the curriculum for girls in LC1, LC2 and LC3 and can be continued as an option from UC4 upwards all year round. There is an extensive fixture list arranged for the season which includes some weekday fixtures against local schools and some matches against other boarding schools on Saturday afternoons. There are also interhouse matches for all year groups. In addition to matches against other schools and colleges CLC enters into the following tournaments and competitions:
The teams train together once a week during the summer term as part of the clubs and practices programme. Team training also takes place on an invitation basis during the autumn and spring terms at a local indoor tennis centre. There is also a recreational tennis club which meets once a week. In addition, girls are offered a choice of private or group tennis coaching with external coaches. This extra-curricular coaching programme is offered all year round and is extremely popular with girls of all age groups and abilities.
