Russell Gibbard, Cheltenham Town community coach, came to Cheltenham Ladies’ College to help with the newly-formed football squads. He led a session with the girls on turn, control and shooting drills and finished with a 7-a-side game. Also present was Cheltenham Town first team midfielder, Craig Armstrong, who was on hand to give the girls tips throughout their training. Dominic Meason, who runs the new football club at College said, “It’s been brilliant to see the girls developing their football skills and next season I am hopeful that we will be able to enter some of the local school tournaments”
Obviously inspired by their coaching, the Ladies’ College team played Balcarras School this week in a friendly with the U14s winning 5 – 2 and the U18s 2 – 0.
