NETBALL
Here are the highlights of another busy week in which 17 teams were in action.
1st, 2nd, 3rd, U12a and b Netball vs RGS
The U12a and b teams both had strong victories over RGS, each scoring over 20 goals and restricting their opponents to four or below. With the first team losing by three goals to RGS, the second team secured victory and a resurgent third team levelled the game 21all with some good shooting from Monica Bhinder.
U15b Netball vs Pate’s Grammar School
The U15b team came back strongly in the second half to draw the game 20 all.
1st and U14c Teams vs Bromsgrove
In an exciting 1st team game against Bromsgrove, the College team caught up the four goal lead their opponents had at half time to take victory 40-34, with some good shooting from Camilla Gane and Cici Baxter and some excellent interceptions from Ria Sugden and Alice Hughes. The U14c team showed real determination in their match against Bromsgrove but despite some good passages of play, the team lost by 3.
HOCKEY
U14 County Hockey Tournament
A mixture of U14s, U13s and one U12 played in their final hockey tournament on Saturday. The team who had never played together showed awesome cohesion from the start winning five of their six matches and drawing against Pate’s Grammar School in the sixth. They finished in 2nd place because Pate’s had scored one more goal than them throughout the tournament.
LACROSSE
National Schools Lacrosse Tournament
U15b Lacrosse results:
St George's Ascot 0-0
Berkhamsted School 0-4
Guildford High 0-4
Benenden School 0-5
The Godolphin School 1-2
Wycombe Abbey 1-3
Report from the tournament is written by Zoe Uttley, Captain:
It was an early start for the under U15b team who made their way to the National Schools Lacrosse Tournament held at Harlington Sports Fields. The team was made up of both UC4 and LC3 players and we were one of over 50 teams competing at the tournament. The first match of the day, against St George's, started with a 0-0 draw. The remainder of the matches did not go our way with us losing all 5. However the team grew in confidence throughout the day with our best match against The Godolphin School where we only just lost in the last few minutes of the game. Goals were scored by Temitope and Augusta, both in LC3. The team would like to thank Mrs Hucker for all her enthusiastic support and encouragement during the day.
National Schools Lacrosse Tournament
2nd XII Result: Eighth in the 28 Second Teams
The 2nd XII proved to be a team to contend with at the National Schools Tournament in London this weekend. After a day of round robin play on Friday, the team came away with 4 wins and 2 losses which put CLC third in their section. As a result they achieved a place in the Championship division on Saturday.
The Saturday section was filled with traditional lacrosse powerhouses such as Wycombe Abbey, St Catherine’s Bramley, Caterham School, Berkhamsted School and Downe House. The CLC 2nd XII had proved on Friday that they were playing better with every game they played and they did so again on Saturday. The 2nd XII stormed out against Wycombe Abbey in a re-match of Friday’s round robin but this time CLC fought back and came away with a 2-1 victory. Caterham School was also dispatched with ease as CLC defeated them 3-1. Although the team played incredibly well against Berkhamsted School, Liv Adams faced 12 shots in goal and saved 9, the match resulted in a 1-3 loss. The same result followed against St Catherine’s, Bramley. With another loss against Downe House B and a draw with Downe House C, the team earned fourth place in their section. This places them in the top 8 of the 28 2nd teams that participated in the event. Well done to them all!
Goal Keeper Statistics
Over 12 games, Liv Adams faced a total of 54 shots on goal, saving 35 and allowing only 19. Her tournament average was 65%.
