Learning Support

We are committed to supporting neurodiverse pupils at College and support is personalised to ensure strong academic and personal outcomes.

We recognise that every student is unique and learns in their own way. Our individualised learning programmes aim to equip students with effective skills and learning strategies for independent learning.

Learning programmes are reviewed frequently with the students, their teachers and pastoral staff to measure progress and ensure that support always addresses specific needs.

The Learning Support team consists of specialist and experienced teachers including the Head and Assistant Head of Learning Support (both of whom are specialist SpLD teachers and assessors) and three part-time teachers who provide the following support:

Lower College

  • Specialist literacy coaching

  • Study skills coaching

  • Maths coaching

  • Academic English for EAL learners

Upper College and Sixth Form

  • Academic English

  • Study skills focused on revision strategies and examination techniques to support GCSE, A Level/IB students

  • Mentoring and advocacy to support additional needs and exceptionalities

The Learning Support Department also provides the following:

  • Screening assessments

  • Diagnostic assessments (SpLD)

  • Examination access arrangements

  • A range of training and support for pupils and staff. Parents are always welcome to seek advice.

Our aim is that all of our students thrive and achieve success at College, and by recognising their exceptionalities and supporting them to get the most out of their skillsets, we help them do just that.
