HFC Opening - Activity Information
Girls, parents, guardians, Guild members, and friends of College are warmly invited to the official opening of the Health and Fitness Centre. Please see below for a full list of activities, a timetable and details about how to book a place for an afternoon session.
Following the official opening by Baroness Sue Campbell CBE, pupils will be taking part in House Athletics. Guests are welcome and encouraged to come along to cheer the girls on at either of these events.
Alternatively, everyone is welcome to join in our Squash Drills and Games, or guests can get involved in our Rowing Challenge or take advantage of our open Gym, complete with brand new facilities and the chance to chat to our personal trainers about the best workout for you. There is no need for guests to sign up for morning activities.
After lunch at the Health and Fitness Centre, girls and guests are invited to drop in to our Sporting Fairground throughout the afternoon. Girls may also be taking part in Fencing or Rowing sessions during the afternoon, which our visitors are welcome to watch.
Alternatively, guests can opt to book on to sessions running during the afternoon that are open to everyone. A full list of these options is available in the schedule below:

Put your trainers on and have a go in our new Fitness Suite. This is a great opportunity to choose your own level of workout, get some advice from personal trainers, test out the Synergy Rig or sweat it out on the cardio machines.
Have you ever tried rowing? Here is your chance to take on the challenge and test out your strength, power and technique on the ergo.
Squash Drills and Games
Guests and girls can take part in fun and competitive Squash.
(Pupils only - guests are encouraged to come along and support the girls)
Do you love Sports Day? Our annual House Athletics competition sees our pupils taking part in a range of athletic events for their Houses. Who will be crowned champions this year and win the sought-after Bannister Cup? If you would like the opportunity to get involved in the activities, the event will also include a parents' race!
- Beat the Hockey Goalie – Penalty stroke; how many goals can you put past the keeper? Will you be the top goal scorer?
- Beat the Lacrosse Goalie – Free position, how many goals can you score? Step, dodge, roll and shoot.
- Test Out Your Golf Swing – Come and have a go. Here is your chance to see if you can hit it further than Rory McElroy or Laura Davies.
- Archery – Draw Aim Shoot Hit! Make a DASH for the archery.
- Beat the Football Goalie – Come and test your football skills to see if you can become the top goal scorer.
- Inflatables in the Pool – Lose your inhibitions and race against the clock, in a fun family-friendly swimming challenge.
- Welly Wang – Time to test your welly wanging skills, as you grip it and hurl it across the CLC fields. Who will become the welly wanging champion?
- Rowing Challenge – Ever tried rowing? Here is your chance to test out your strength, power and technique on the ergo.
SESSIONS ONE AND TWO
Activities open to everyone:
Squash - Match Play – Time to dust off the racket and sign up for a fun tournament.
Cricket Match – Time to get competitive in a cricket match, hosted by Lydia Greenway and Felicity Leydon-Davis. If you were you born to bat, take to the crease and hit those sixes!
Netball – Break out those ball skills on the state-of-the-art showcourt, hosted by Ella Powell-Davies.
Synergy Rig – Sign up for the Synergy Rig and experience a unique circuit-based high-intensity workout.
Mini Tennis Tournament (Session 1 only) – Time to pair up, take to the indoor courts and participate in a mini tennis tournament.
Spin (Session 1 only) – Come and enjoy this fun spin session, complete with disco lighting and dance music, is the session for you. You will not need to have any previous skills or coordination in order to successfully participate in a spinning class. Is this the activity for you?
Rowing (Session 2 only) – Ever tried rowing? Here is your chance to test out your strength, power and technique on the ergo.

Across all our pupil-only competitions and activities, guests are encouraged to come along and support the girls.
Open Dance Competitions
With two Open Dance competitions during the afternoon, the first will run during Session 1 and will see our Upper College and Sixth Form girls put through their paces, judged by a panel of experts.
The second session of the afternoon will see our Lower College girls take to the stage with great spirit, rhythm and style, as they too perform for our expert panel and battle it out to win the competition.
Sessions One and Two
Fencing Clinic – Come and test out your fencing skills with our professional instructor.
Rowing (Session 2 only) – Learn how to row and improve your technique on the ergo.
