Self-harm Workshop for Parents
Date: Friday 21st June 2019
Time: 4.45pm - 6.15pm
Satveer Nijjar is a passionate trainer and speaker who delivers sessions nationally on self-harm awareness.
She combines her lived experience of mental illness and self-harm, being a parent of a child who has suffered mental illness, alongside academics and humour to deliver sessions that reduce stigma, raise awareness and build confidence and knowledge.
These sessions are open to all parents, not just those who have been personally affected by self-harm. The aim of the session is to improve understanding of self-harm behaviours and how to respond appropriately.
What the session will cover
- What is self-harm?
- What can lead a young person to self-harm?
- Functions of self-harm?
- Supporting a child who is self-harming.
- How can self-harm make you, the parent, feel?
- The support that is available for you and your child.
There is no need to RSVP. Please direct any questions to Mrs Dobbs, Wellbeing Co-ordinator.
