Cambray

Opened in the 1980s, Cambray is named after CLC's original location on Cambray Place in Cheltenham. Together with its sister house, Beale, the two houses form a quadrangle with a large enclosed garden for students from both houses to enjoy.

Within Cambray, our students have individual bedrooms, bathrooms, study spaces and common rooms. The house interconnects with Beale and they share a communal dining room.

From the Houseparent

“My journey into pastoral care started in 2012 when I worked as a graduate assistant at Geelong Grammar School in Australia. It was there that my passion for care of young people began. I soon discovered the joy of working with the students and the difference one can make to their lives. Before joining CLC in September 2023, I worked as a Resident Tutor at Repton School for four years, and more recently, at Tudor Hall School as a Housemistress of a Junior and Sixth Form House for six years.

“Cambray is a warm and friendly house where every girl is allowed to flourish as an individual. Cambray is fortunate to have a dedicated team of House Staff who are knowledgeable, generous with their time and effort, and care for the girls.

“Life in Cambray provides lots of opportunities to make new friends and is also good preparation for student life and independent living. There is more responsibility for the girls to organise their own study time, alongside College commitments, and more choice when deciding how to spend their free time.

“Young people are capable of anything they put their minds to, and I feel privileged to be with them every step of the way.”
