Cheltenham Music Festival 2016

As part of our strategic partnership with Cheltenham Festivals, College is proud to support the Music Festival’s education programme, including workshops in many schools across the area, with outstanding performers such as Nicola Benedetti, and a free concert for schools in the Town Hall.

Girls had the opportunity to meet Evelyn Glennie and observe the rehearsal for that night’s concert.

The College community were invited to a drinks reception followed by Oz Clarke’s musical wine tour on Thursday 14th July in the Princess Hall.

Cheltenham Music Festival 2015

In 2015, College sponsored a number of education events at the Music Festival. These included:

  • A concert for schools and music explorers, attended by 700 pupils from ten schools
  • Workshops in 16 schools championed by James Mayhew and attended by 1,600 pupils across 24 sessions
  • BBC Music’s “10 pieces” training for primary teachers with the opportunity for pupils to attend live performances
  • Choir workshop “Going for a song” for schools that normally have limited music opportunities

Girls benefited from an exclusive event in College with BBC Young Musician of the year 2014, Martin Bartlett, where he discussed his life, dealing with fame and even gave an incredible live performance. Martin went on to perform at the last night of the BBC Proms 2015. Groups of girls also went on trips to two major orchestral nights at the Music Festival.
