Komla Dumor Award Winner
Guild member Doyin Akinyelure (née Gomes, 1999-2001, Beale) has won the BBC World News: Komla Dumor Award, identifying her as a future star of African journalism.
After leaving College, Doyin went to the University of Nottingham to read Chemical Engineering. She began her career as an Investment Banker, but then moved in to journalism to follow a passion for "telling Africa's story".
As this year's award winner, Doyin is currently working with teams across BBC News in London until November.
Now in its second year, the award was established to honour Komla Dumor, a presenter for BBC World News, who died suddenly in 2014.
