Saas Fee Ski Training Camp
Seven members of the school ski team travelled to Saas Fee and took part in a Kandahar Racing ski camp recently. We trained for a seven days in our groups and also had fitness sessions in the afternoon.
After our gondola ride up the mountain everyday, we usually started off the day with some warm-up exercises and warm-up runs, followed by drills to improve our technique.
Later in the day, we applied our improved technique in valuable practice in slalom and giant slalom gates, with coaches constantly giving us tips. Practice in gates was extremely useful to become more confident in my ski racing.
At the end of each day we had fitness sessions focusing on our leg muscles and core strength, as well as stretching out any muscle pain. The atmosphere of training is so fun but also serious. On some days we had a video analysis of our runs and it was very useful to actually see our skiing and the ways in which we could each improve.
We finished the week with a fun parallel slalom, with massive Toblerones for first prize. The practice in gates and drills we did throughout the day improved everyone's technique immensely. Everyone at the camp was so friendly, including the coaches, who loved having fun with us. I ended the week having made more friends and a stronger ski racer.

Following our trip, CLC would also like to congratulate Kandahar and British Ski Racer Dave Ryding on his career-best sixth place in a FIS World Cup slalom race in Finland on Sunday 13th November.
