50 years of the IB
This year, the International Baccalaureate is celebrating its 50th anniversary and College is delighted to be involved in the celebrations.
Founded in 1968, the IB was originally offered to students in just seven schools. In 2018, 50 years on, there are 6,282 programmes offered in 4,775 schools across the world.
We offer the IB alongside A Levels and this year also marks the 10-year anniversary for the IB at College, with our first cohort of IB students receiving their results in 2008.
The IB is a two-year course of studies that suits well-motivated girls with a breadth of interests. It is a rigorous qualification that is recognised by universities in the UK and across the world.
Our results are consistently outstanding, thanks to the dedication and hard work of the girls and teachers, and in 2017 we were delighted to be named the top girls boarding school in the country for the IB for the third consecutive year.
As part of the annual Global IB Conference, and to launch the celebrations for the 50th anniversary, the IB and ITN productions produced the film A Better World Through Education.
College was delighted to be selected to contribute to the film:
