Art Trip to Kew Gardens
On Monday 24th June, LC3 art students visited Kew Gardens, where we saw an exhibition of Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures, inspired by nature. The colours of the glass were vivid and exciting, adding to the impact of the large scale sculptures.
We completed studies of both the flowers and the sculptures, ranging from continuous line, negative space sketches to sustained drawings. The plants and flowers themselves were just as striking as Chihuly's sculptures, with a wide range of varieties and species from all around the world.
Students also had plenty of time to look at the gardens, which were beautiful. The treetop walkway gave us a captivating view and allowed us to take some fascinating photographs. It was a great day, thoroughly enjoyed by all students.
