Christmas Events 2016

On Friday 9th December, College held the annual Christmas Concert, with outstanding performances from musicians and singers across College.

On Saturday 10th December, the Service of Lessons and Carols took place in the Princess Hall, alongside a live stream of the service to the Parabola Arts Centre.

These events followed on from the Carol Service by Lower College Choir on Sunday 27th November, which was attended by parents and more than 100 Guild members. Everyone enjoyed excellent performances by the girls, followed by mulled wine and mince pies; there was then a buffet lunch provided at St Austin’s along with the opportunity to look around the newly refurbished house.

The LC1 girls also spent a Saturday morning making traditional Christingles for the annual Christingle Service. Led by the Chaplain and organised by the RS and Philosophy Department, the service took place in Lower Hall illuminated by candlelight. Several girls read from the Bible and all the LC1 girls sang Away in a Manger.  During the service girls were encouraged to think not only of their own Christmas celebrations, but also those children who will be spending the festive season displaced and afraid.
