CLC Jazz Band performs at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival
On Saturday 5th May, the CLC Jazz Band made its debut appearance on the Free Stage at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
The girls had worked hard to prepare a 20-minute set of five numbers, opening with an energetic rendition of Let The Good Times Roll, sung by Helena (SFC1), before moving into a couple of Motown hits. Regina (SFC1) and Alice (UC4) both sung Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours) by Stevie Wonder and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough as recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
The singers then had a rest while the band performed Count Basie’s Flight of the Foo Birds before Helena returned to the microphone to finish the set with September by Earth, Wind and Fire.
The energy of the girls was fantastic. Many audience members commented on the look of genuine enjoyment from the girls, alongside the excellent standard of music achieved by the band.
We are extremely proud of them and what they achieved, and hope that they will return to the Jazz Festival again next year!
