Friday Night is Music Night
On Friday 4th May, Mr Keir and Mrs Adams took 16 girls to the Big Top at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival to see the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Guy Barker Big Band collaborate to produce Friday Night is Music Night.
The performance was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 and the girls were the first ones up out of their seats and dancing to the bold and brash sound of Mississippi-rooted jazz and soul.
Earlier in the day, girls had attended a Q&A session with artists, producers, tour managers and sound engineers from the BBC and the music industry, and were able to ask some excellent questions.
It has been a very jazz-filled week at College, with Prayers on the opening day of the Festival including great performances by Alice (UC4) singing Angel Eyes, and Hannah and Starr (LC3) improvising in the style of jazz violin virtuoso Stephane Grappelli to I Got Rhythm by Gershwin.
