German Exchange Trip 2016
Every year, for the past six years, College has run a German Exchange programme with Maria Ward-Schule Mainz, in Germany, one of the most traditional educational institutions in Mainz. The school has about 1,200 girls, from Years 5 to Year 13.
Each year 14 German girls and their two teachers come to visit us in October and the our CLC girls go to visit Mainz in December. This allows the girls to experience the school, compare education systems and work on their language skills, as well as experiencing Germany during Christmas time, with the many festive markets. Sixth form girls also have the opportunity to work in a Kindergarten.
This year, the girls and their exchange partners took a trip to the Cotswolds, to Sudeley Castle and Gardens, and enjoyed cream tea. They also went on a social, including a trip to the cinema and bowling. In December, we visit Mainz, Wiesbaden, several museums and the Frankfurt Christmas markets.
Below are some of the opinions from the German girls about their trip to the UK:
"The school is also much bigger and more beautiful than we expected and there is so much on offer." - Hannah, Luisa, Lisa and Julia
"I look forward to showing [CLC girls] the Christmas market. Our school day is a lot shorter, so that will be a big change. I hope we won't be running out of things to do in the afternoon!" - Mira
