Girls meet top scientists through Cheltenham Festivals partnership

College sponsored four events at Cheltenham Science Festival, which were introduced by CLC girls who had the opportunity to meet the speakers.

We were also honoured to welcome physicist Jim Al Khalili OBE, engineer on the Shard, Roma Agrawal, sport scientist and physiologist to Jessica Ennis-Hill, Steven Ingham, neuroscientist Barbara Sahakian, and former NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan.

Ellen was also the guest speaker at the Cheltenham Ladies' College and Cheltenham Science Festival 'Pioneers of Science Dinner', which brought together members of the CLC community involved in STEM fields, including current girls and those studying related subjects at university.

College girls had access over 250 top tickets for events at the Festival and the Science Department took girls on site to visit the interactive Maker Shack and a number of events for schools. A large group of the CLC community also joined us for drinks before our final sponsored event 'Why do we laugh', which was both thought-provoking and funny.
