HSBC / British Council Chinese Speaking Competition

On Friday 2nd December, a group of UC and SFC girls (Zara Norman, Julia Speeks, Tomisin Adeyemi, Jacqueline Blinoff, Gabrielle Nuttall, Emmanuella Oronsaye, Afua Adomakoh, Caroline Wilkinson) participated in the annual HSBC / British Council Chinese Speaking Competition.

Three girls Afua Adomakoh, Gabrielle Nuttall and Zara Norman bravely took part in the individual rounds, which involved a presentation on a topic of their choosing and then being asked questions by the judges, in front of a large audience. The rest of the girls performed a short sketch they had written and directed, telling the story of how Harry and Hermione, from the Harry Potter books, travel back in time to discover the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival.

Well done to all of the girls for representing the Modern Foreign Languages Department and a big congratulations to the girls who went through to the final and now have a chance to win a trip to China.
