LC1 Big Sleepover

On Saturday 5th May, LC1 girls took over the school for the night and thoroughly enjoyed camping out in Lower Hall for what has now become a very popular annual event - the LC1 Big Sleepover!

Once again, this proved to be a wonderful opportunity for girls to engage across the year group, and they clearly appreciated the sheer pleasure of being together and having the school and gardens to themselves. Of course, there were adults on hand to facilitate the fun and help ensure it was indeed a sleepover, rather than a stay-awake!

Our wonderful catering team arranged a feast of a supper at the Bayshill Court Dining Room and soon afterwards, our LC1 girls set up ‘camp’ excitedly. It was clear from the merriment and energy right from the start that they were keen to make the most of a brilliant evening filled with games and treats.

Later in the evening, after hot chocolate, the the girls formed a giant ‘conga’ line and sang (or squealed) all the way down the Marble Corridor and towards Lower Hall. They were soon enjoying popcorn and a film on the big screen from the comfort of their improvised beds spread across the floor.

At last it was time to settle down for the evening and, while there were the inevitable giggles in the darkness followed by some gentle ‘shushing’ from staff, eventually all was still and all our girls drifted off to sleep. They slept soundly, surrounded by the large portraits of former Principals gazing upon them from the walls.

After the excitement of the previous evening, our sleepyheads packed up less energetically than the night before, but helpfully nevertheless. They made their way to the GCR for a delicious breakfast before dispersing to enjoy their Sunday back at Houses or with families. It is lovely to have heard that the LC1 girls enjoyed the event so much, and those of us who looked after them all agree that they were a pleasure to host.
