PE Department 2019/20 Update

Another exciting year has dawned for the PE Department and our wider team of fantastic coaches, teachers and instructors. It has been a fabulous summer and we have been inundated with great news stories of girls being active, taking on challenges, or even representing their country at home country, European or even world level.

Please do keep the great news stories coming in, we love to hear them! I know all of the staff at College are immensely proud of pupils for keeping up such strong active habits over the summer.

The year has already started strongly with a new Pre-Season Training Camp for UC5 and SFC students taking place before College started back. It was a fantastic weekend, with pupils really rising to the challenges we set across the three days. We are already considering how we can improve this for next year to involve more girls and improve the content.

We are also launching a new pupil survey this year, whereby we hope to gain valuable insights to help us better cater for students going forward. This will not only focus on sport and PE, but also related themes of activity and wellbeing. The survey will be rolling throughout the year with pupils randomly sampled week-by-week. We're excited to get even more feedback from the girls and to continue to improve what we offer and how we deliver it.

The first few PE lessons and club sessions of the year have been great with record high numbers involved and brilliant attitudes being displayed throughout. On top of the breadth of activity options in place, the range of fixtures and competitions have also now started in earnest, with pupils of all ages competing this weekend in hockey, lacrosse, netball and equestrianism.

Friends and family are very welcome to join us at the Health & Fitness Centre every Saturday for the range of home fixtures. The girls love having extra support and there are always refreshments available in the Function Room from mid-afternoon onwards. You can find details of fixtures and competitions for the term ahead at (names of girls selected to teams is password protected, this is changed termly and you will receive an email via iSams each term with the new password.)

It has been a great start to year and we look forward to a fantastically active term ahead.
