PGC - Autumn Term Round Up

The Autumn Term is always a busy and exciting term in the Professional Guidance Centre (PGC), as we have been supporting our SFC2 girls in their university and post school applications. We have also hosted a large number of successful events, such as the STEAM Networking Dinner in October, the Law talk by Lord Dyson and the mock MMI (multi mini interview) event for our Medicine applicants.

We also welcomed Ameilia Lockey a costume designer, who gave an inspiring talk about working in film and theatre and Eric Gleason, who gave a fantastic and very informative talk to future engineers, economists and geographers about the energy revolution.

Girls have had the opportunity to attend many talks by university representatives from all over the world, including CUHK, Georgetown, Columbia, Duke, Princeton, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Boston, Chicago, Tufts, Amherst, British Columbia, Warwick, Wake Forest, Akron, Bryant, Bishops, Smith, Northeastern and the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. Girls have also benefitted hugely from the opportunity to attend small group CV workshops with Pippa Robinson.

The SFC2 girls have had the opportunity to tackle one-to-one mock interviews with an external specialist, and next Saturday we welcome five brave volunteers who are going to take part in a careers carousel with our UC4 girls. We are immensely grateful to all the Guild members, parents and friends of CLC who support us in our mission to empower the girls to make key decisions about their futures.

Events coming up next term include the Law and Public Service Networking Dinner on 1st February, a Law Day with Harrison Clark Rickerbys, and several university talks including one which will focus on London universities. If you are interested in supporting the PGC with any of these events or through, for example, giving an informal careers Q&A, please do get in touch with the PGC (
