PGC Networking Dinners
Looking back, as the year comes to an end, we are very proud of the great success of our Networking Dinners. These offer excellent opportunities for the girls to not only learn about different fields of work but also to have the opportunity to practice their networking skills. It is rather nerve-racking for some of them to initially introduce themselves or feel confident holding a conversation while eating a formal dinner. Those girls who come regularly appreciate the value of engaging in conversation in a formal but welcoming environment, as most of our guests are parents, Guild members or from local businesses interested in contributing to the education of young people.
This year we had a Creative Industries Networking Dinner with people coming from music, drama, writing and designing backgrounds, among others. The Law Networking Dinner was equally interesting, as we had Law students, criminologists, QCs and solicitors specialising in a wide range of topics. It is always a pleasure to see how the conversations continue, not only as guests and girls leave the building, but later on via email.
Next academic year we are already planning the following Networking Dinners:
Reaching Out to Others - Friday 13th October
Business and Finance - Friday 2nd February
The World of Health - Friday 2nd March
We are trying to make them as varied as possible and look to welcome people from a wide range of jobs within those topics. Please contact Marieli Mooney (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you think you or anyone you know might be interested in coming along.
