Sport News: November 2019

Well done to our CLC riders who have had a number of positive performances recently.

At the Rectory Farm Arena Eventing Qualifier, the CLC team of UC5 students Ursula, Poppy and Helena were placed 5th and 2nd in two different events which qualifies them for the Championships at Hickstead next May.

The team of Lily H (LC2), Laura (UC5), Poppy (UC5) and Matilda (UC5) also recently qualified for the National Schools Equestrian Championships at Addington. The team all put in solid performances. Although a couple of poles fell, unfortunately this meant the team dropped out of the top ten.

Lily H went on to an amazing 2nd place in the hotly contested 110cm championship class, a fantastic achievement. Well done Lily!

CLC had a very successful day last Sunday at the West Wilts Equestrian Centre. The 90cm class was hotly contested with the team of Lily R (SFC2), Martha (LC3) and Bella (LC3) riding three stylish and fast clear rounds to take 2nd place out of 20 teams and qualify for Royal Windsor Horse Show in 2020. Martha finished 9th overall and Bella a fantastic 5th.

Congratulations to Luli (LC1) for rising to the challenge and completing her first 90cm class, well done!

In the 100cm class the team of Helena (UC5), Lily R (SFC2) and Martha (LC3) were placed 2nd again and this time qualified for the Hickstead Elite Show Jumping Championships! Lily R rode two clear rounds to take 6th individually.

Congratulations to our Senior Quartet of Holly, Nicole, Sugar and Azra (UC5-SFC2) for their determined racing at the English Schools National Team Finals.  The four did themselves proud achieving their target times.  This is also an impressive achievement by the quartet, as they are only the fourth College team to have qualified for Nationals in the last 15 years.

Swimming november 2019 v2

On Saturday 16th November, Evie (SFC2) competed at the first GB Junior trials of the year in Boston, Lincolnshire. Evie had a fantastic race in her single scull and finished 6th out of 117 competitors. Congratulations on a fantastic start to the process of gaining a GB vest later in the year.

England Schools Cup

Running in extremely muddy and challenging conditions, the CLC team tackled the competitive England Schools Cup Regional Finals course in Warwickshire with both guts and determination.  They all ran superbly, with Tessa (LC2) being the first CLC runner home in the Under 14 race and Phoebe (LC3) the first CLC runner home in the Under 16 race. Well done to all the team.

Cheltenham and District Championship

Well done to the 23 students who represented College at the recent Cheltenham and District Championships. They all competed with great determination and rose to the challenge of the hilly course.
