Swimming

Independent Boarding School Relays 2019

Competing at the ever-competitive Independent Boarding School Relays, our three teams swam superbly to finish as the second-best team overall.

Within the age-group races our seniors led the way, setting a new Medley event record in their double gold medal performance. The inters finished second and third, and our junior quartet were just outside of the medals.  Well done girls.

Seniors: Kathlyn, Éire, Kylie and Nicole.

Cheltenham and District Schools Swimming 2019

CLC hosted the annual District Schools Gala on Tuesday, and our team of 21 swimmers from across the year groups swam superbly to retain the Best Girls Team title for the sixth consecutive year. The quartet of Éire, Nicole, Azra and Kathlyn also took the honours in the Webb Relay, a separate event, to bring the Cup back to College.

SFC1 Kathlyn was on record-breaking form as she set two new Championship and College records in the 50m Breast and 50m Butterfly. Our Upper College foursome of Sugar, Nicole, Jessie and Zara also refreshed the event record in the Medley. The team secured an impressive 14 age-group event wins and eight new personal bests. Well done swimmers.

Tennis

Well done to Cara who reached the semi-final of the Junior International Tennis Federation Tennis Tournament in Ghana over the Easter break.

Road to Wimbledon 2019

On Sunday 5th May, 28 Lower College girls competed in the annual LTA Road to Wimbledon event. Lots of matches were played, with Annika and Aimee battling it out in the final. Annika won 6-3 and goes through to the County Finals in July.

Fencing

The British Youth Fencing Championship 2019

CLC pupils had a very successful British Youth Fencing Championships in Sheffield over the bank holiday weekend. Christy and Poppy competed superbly in their tough pool group and fought well in their elimination matches. Issy finished a very respectable twelfth overall in her category. Jeanna was particularly pleased with her performance, beating a girl who she had recently lost to in the Independent Schools Competition.

Equestrian

On Saturday 27th April, Lara, Ursula and Lily competed at the Arena Eventing at Allens Hill.

They were fantastic, finishing second in the 90cm and winning the 100cm, and qualifying for the National Championship.

On Sunday 28th April, in the One Day Event at Swalcliffe, Helena came first and Lily fifth in the 90cm. In the 100cm Chloe came third and Isabel sixth. This was a fantastic performance from CLC.

The Broadway British Eventing Under 18 qualifier

Congratulations to Laura for winning her section, to Jaymee for coming eighth in both her sections, and to Chloe for coming eleventh. Brilliant performances from all those who competed as the standard was very high.

International dressage

During the Easter holidays, Charlie took part in an international dressage competition in the Netherlands where she was the top placed GB junior competitor. Charlie has now qualified for entry into this year’s European Championships in Italy during July.

Charlie also represented British Dressage in a recent event in Saumur, France (Loire Valley area). Charlie was part of the GB Juniors Dressage Team who finished in bronze position in the Nations Cup.

She individually placed eighth, eighth and sixth on the three days, in a class of 24 riders from European countries.

Lacrosse

Huge congratulations to the CLC players who played representative lacrosse over the holidays!  

Mia, Isabella and Phoebe were selected to represent the South West at the England Regional Academy end-of-season tournament at the University of Warwick, while Eloise and Hannah participated in the annual Hong Kong Open.

Rugby

Over the Easter break, Éire was selected to play for the South West Rugby Team, who were successful in the National ACF Rugby competition. Éire helped her team to victory, making them the National Champions. They beat teams from Wales, Scotland, Ireland and other regions in England, and won the final 70-0. Éire scored a total of 10 tries over the course of the tournament - a fantastic achievement.

A huge congratulations to Poppy, who won gold at the Under 17 Girls' European Cup in Leiria, Portugal.
