English Schools Athletics Association Cross Country
Congratulations to Emma (LC1), who was selected to represent Gloucestershire at the English Schools' Athletics Association Cross Country National Finals in Leicestershire on Saturday. She ran the 2.5km course in 11 minutes 41 seconds. This is the first time Emma has been selected to race at this level and it is an excellent achievement.
On Wednesday 20th March, eight pupils - Sonya, Serena, Alice, Ashley, Ariana, Shey, Kathlyn and Jamie - represented CLC in the annual Independent Schools' Climbing Competition at Rockstar Climbing Centre in Swindon.
They made up two teams and took part in bouldering, lead climbing and top roped problems to earn combined team scores.
Both teams climbed well, trying many different routes and having to consider team tactics to earn the maximum number of points per climb.
The teams finished 16th and 19th - a very respectable placing for their first major competition; well done girls.
National Sculling Head
On Monday 18th March, a Junior 18 Crew and a Junior 16 Crew went to race at the National Sculling Head at Dorney Lake. The Junior 16 Crew coped well in tricky conditions and finished seven places above their start position. Meanwhile, the Junior 18 Crew, after putting in a decent time for the first leg, were unlucky to suffer an incident and could not complete the second leg.
On Sunday 24th March, Alex represented CLC at the Junior Inter-regional Trial in Saltford. This was Alex's last opportunity to try and represent the region, having missed out by a few seconds last year. She blew away the competition this year and secured the chance to represent the region at the Inter-regional Regatta at the end of April.
