Visit to Buscot Park

On Tuesday 19th July, a group of Guild members, former and current parents, and friends enjoyed a wonderful day at Buscot Park, the family home of Lord Faringdon which he had kindly agreed to open exclusively for CLC.

Lord Faringdon gave a highly entertaining introduction to the history of his home and his ancestors before handing over to the curator, Roger Vlitos, who took our group on a fascinating tour of the late-eighteenth century house.

The family collection includes paintings by Rembrandt, Reynolds, Rubens, van Dyck, Rosetti, Burne-Jones and Murillo together with furniture, ceramics and objets d’art.

Lucinda Henderson then directed the group around the extensive gardens including the wonderful Peto Water Garden and the stunning walled garden.

On the hottest day of the year, the group was greatly relieved to be able to sit in the shade and enjoy a delicious summer lunch.

The day ended in the small family theatre, with a short presentation of photographs of the family and friends who had spent time at Buscot Park.

We are extremely grateful to the family for so generously hosting such a memorable day.
