World Book Day
World Book Day was celebrated wholeheartedly this year in College with a day centred around 'the books CLC loves to read'.
The day began with girls dressed up in costumes relating to the texts or topics they are studying in class: from fairy tales to the gothic. Staff across College were also invited to join in the festivities and were asked to come dressed as their 'not-so-guilty-pleasure' book. There were fabulous costumes all round and some really original takes on the themes!
Prayers enabled staff and girls alike to confess their 'not-so-guilty pleasures' and share the books that had made them fall in love with reading. To continue the theme, there are posters all around College showing staff and girls holding their favourite books: this has sparked animated discussion in the corridors! In English lessons, girls looked at famous fictional diaries from Adrian Mole to Bridget Jones and then had a go at writing their own CLC version.
After the fun and excitement of this year's festivities, World Book Day 2020 can't come soon enough!
