Cheltenham is one of England's most beautiful Regency towns, and for over 160 years Cheltenham Ladies’ College has been proudly situated at the heart of the town, close to parks, restaurants and shops.
The town has much to offer, from its graceful architecture and history, to its beautiful parks and diverse shops. Cheltenham is often called ‘the Festival Town’ as the annual programme of jazz, science, music, literature, street art, films, wellbeing, cricket, horse racing and food festivals ensures there is always something going on, and brings cultural variety to both residents and visitors alike. For College students, the festivals provide opportunities to enrich the curriculum, with access to a range of speakers and events within easy walking distance.
Beyond Cheltenham are the picture-perfect Cotswolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its rolling hills and charming villages built with local honey-coloured stone. Stretching for almost 800 square miles, with thousands of miles of footpaths, ancient woodlands and stunning landscapes, there are plenty of opportunities for fresh air, outdoor pursuits, College camps and Duke of Edinburgh adventures.
A number of large organisations are based in Gloucestershire, including St James's Place Wealth Management, engineering company Spirax Sarco, aerospace firms GE Aviation and Safran Landing Systems, UCAS (the University and College Admissions Service), retailer Superdry, green energy company Ecotricity and luxury travel agent Abercrombie & Kent, to name a few.
Cheltenham is also home to the biggest concentration of cyber businesses outside of London and GCHQ, the UK government's intelligence, security and cyber agency. Over the coming decade, the town is investing in both the local economy at large and in the 'Golden Valley': a 200-hectare site which will be developed to provide 3,700 sustainable homes, two million square feet of commercial space and Cyber Central, a campus of cyber and digital organisations, strategically located adjacent to GCHQ.
