Welcome

Welcome

A Pioneering Past,

Fearless Futures.

For nearly 175 years, we have believed that girls deserve to be at the forefront of education.

At CLC, students are empowered to ask difficult questions, have the self-confidence to think and speak independently, and strive to collaborate and take the lead with courage and compassion.

Hear from Jemima Edney, Head of College, and Eve Jardine-Young, Executive Principal, as they discuss their thoughts on what it means to be fearless.

Fearlessness is about not being afraid to make mistakes. It's about approaching every challenge with confidence, with courage, and with heart.

Jemima Edney, Head of College

Our Timeline

Since 1853, we have been nurturing and developing the next generation of fearless individuals taking on, shaping and positively impacting the world through their curiosity, courage and compassion.

Our Values

Teaching and caring for pupils from over 50 countries empowers us to think globally and celebrate diversity.

A holistic education at CLC is about developing agility to manage change, the resilience to take learn from mistakes, and the courage to meet the challenges of the future.

We encourage students to choose who they want to become, understand how to make meaningful connections, and decide what they can trust.

Pupils develop strong confidence. they eagerly and resolutely seek new challenges to stretch their boundaries and aspirations.

Our Culture
& Ethos

Curiosity

We develop and nurture fearless individuals with curious minds. At Cheltenham Ladies’ College we provide educational experiences that are deliberately wide and expansive, encouraging and supporting pupils to explore opportunities and possibilities, to question as well as answer, to think as well as learn, developing the curiosity and confidence to choose their own path.

Courage

At Cheltenham Ladies’ College we provide educational experiences that develop and nurture mindsets, as well as skillsets. So our pupils leave us not only with the qualifications and grades they need to succeed, but the courage to give things a go, the confidence to fail as well as succeed and the self-belief and determination to keep going.

Compassion

At CLC, community is at the heart of our approach and through the many opportunities to learn and grow beyond the classroom and connect with others in school and in the broader community, students develop the compassion to want to make a difference and the confidence and determination

Our Campus &
the Cotswolds

Regency Cheltenham, bordering the beautiful Cotswolds AONB, is home to CLC, our staff and our students.

With restaurants, a great range of shops, and many literary, music and arts festivals each year, it's a fantastic place to learn, relax, and grow.

Why CLC?

Which is better, single-sex or co-education?

What is boarding really like?

How can you be sure CLC is the right school?

We firmly believe that each family must make the choices that are right for them, but here's why we think a girls-only environment at CLC helps to develop curious, compassionate, and fearless individuals.
