Our Future

In the 19th century, the founding of College redefined girls’ education and our reputation spread nationally and globally. We are committed to continuing our pioneering role in the education of young women, offering them outstanding choice in both the academic and co-curricular spheres, to ensure that they are prepared to take their place in an increasingly complex and challenging world.

In order to maintain the quality of this exceptional and historic learning environment, we are making an investment in our facilities and estate that is second only in scale to that of our founders.

Over the last 10 years, our ongoing boarding refurbishment programme has seen the building of a new junior boarding house and the full renovation for many others.

The Health and Fitness Centre opened in 2018. The facilities include two sports halls, a climbing wall, a refurbished 25m swimming pool, a multi-purpose activity studio, dance studio, five squash courts and a 58-station fitness gym with free weights, spin, rowing and erg areas.

Other recent estates improvements include a range of sustainability initiatives and renovations, as we aim to meet our pledge to be carbon net zero by 2030, as well as new science labs, music practice rooms, a recording studio, and a number of other improvements to enhance our teaching spaces.

Each year, 60-70 pupils at College receive a bursary / hardship funding, which equates to around £1.6 million. In support of this, we have held Giving Days in 2022 and 2023 to raise additional funds for Beale Awards (bursaries) through our Flourish campaign. Thanks to generous current and former parents, Guild members, staff and many other members of our community, we’re delighted that across the two Giving Days we raised an additional £205,363. This money will go towards expanding the bursaries we are able to offer at College, and in turn will enable us to create life-changing opportunities for girls from all backgrounds.

Over the next decade we plan to establish a bursary endowment fund, pursue our sustainability goals, and continue to invest in major capital projects.
