College has 11 boarding houses (six Junior and five Sixth Form) and four day houses (three Junior and one Sixth Form). Places in houses are allocated in the Summer Term prior to enrolment and only after offers of places have been accepted.
Parents whose daughters are applying for 11+ and 13+ entry are invited to visit all the Junior Houses in late February and to let us know of any house preferences at the time of acceptance in March. We do take account of stated preferences as far as is possible but the process of matching girls to houses is balanced by the need to achieve a fair mix of abilities, interests and previous schools in each house.
Despite the fact that many girls are active in both the sporting and musical lives of College, we do not have houses which are linked to specific activities as is the case in some schools, but instead we look to create a broad mix of talents across all houses.
If you join us outside of our usual entry points, families are able to express a preference, but the decision as to which house they are allocated will often be dictated by where places are available.
For girls entering our Sixth Form, they similarly may express a preference which will, where possible, but without guarantee, be taken into account by the Head of Pastoral Care who makes the Sixth Form house allocations for both current (Year 11) girls moving into senior houses and for new girls.
