Saturday programme
The Saturday Programme runs from 8.30am – 12.20pm on Saturdays in term time. All girls attend and there is a variety of different activities which run throughout the year. These sessions provide an opportunity for both academic lessons and an enrichment programme to extend the girls’ education beyond the curriculum.
The programme breaks down barriers between subjects by providing opportunities for cross-curricular and vertical year group activities. It aims to be is relevant, innovative and interesting for each year group in College and draws on the skills of College staff together with the contribution of outside groups and speakers.
To give a framework and direction to the Saturday Programme, it has been designed with inspiration from ideas published in the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) Opening Minds programme. The RSA Opening Minds framework features five categories of competences: learning, citizenship, relating to people, managing situations and managing people. A focus on competences means the emphasis is on the ability to understand and do, rather than just the transmission of knowledge.
The Saturday Programme is able to incorporate new ideas and themes and therefore new activities are continually being developed and added. It is a flexible and hugely valuable part of the Co-Curricular Programme offered at CLC.
