Senior Boarding Houses
Senior Houses
Independence with support
The start of sixth form is a point of transition of all our students, new and old: not only do they start new academic courses, they also all join one of our Senior Houses. These houses provide flexible spaces for focused study, collaboration and social time. They offer a greater degree of independence with students largely managing their own routines, with experienced house staff on hand to support and guide them through the final years of school.
Beale
"I joined CLC in September 2025 having previously been a Houseparent and English teacher at Taunton School and a teacher of EAL at Dean Close School. I live with my husband Ieuan who also works in an independent school. Cheltenham is my home town and I love nothing more than spending time with friends and family enjoying the town's many festivals, green spaces and coffee shops. During the holidays, I enjoy walking and long-distance hiking throughout the UK and Europe.
As Houseparent, I aim to foster a welcoming, inclusive and creative space where students will feel happy and safe. I look forward to working alongside a dedicated and experienced team of House Staff who provide a caring home for our students. I believe in the power of lifting each other up, breaking barriers and paving the way for our own success. Sixth Form boarding at CLC provides an excellent balance of friendship, personal development and preparation for life beyond College where every student can flourish as an individual."
Cambray
“I have worked at CLC since 2017 when I joined St Hilda’s as Deputy Houseparent, since then I have worked in Senior and Junior Houses as a Deputy and spent time at a school near Wolverhampton as a Houseparent. My career has always been in education with time spent specialising in Behaviour and Child Development. In between teaching posts, I travelled as much as I could with highlights being my time spent in Australia, China and New Zealand. I live in Cambray with my wife and one day we will go travelling again but this time with our own campervan!
Each year is different with a new group of students learning to live and study together. It’s important that life in Cambray offers the students the chance to learn about themselves, develop life skills and be able to relax while studying. My aim is for Cambray to always be a home for the girls, with plenty of opportunities to have more independence, more choice and more fun! The girls at CLC have always impressed me as to how much they can achieve and are capable of. The Cambray House team and I aim to help our girls be the best version of themselves and we will always strive to support them in whatever way they need.”
Elizabeth
"We joined Elizabeth House ahead of the Autumn Term 2020, having started teaching at Cheltenham Ladies’ College in 2018. Dr Parker teaches History and Politics and Mr White teaches Geography. We live in Elizabeth with our son, Ollie.
"We are very lucky to have spent four years living and working in Southeast Asia before joining Cheltenham Ladies’ College and really enjoyed travelling in the region. In the holidays, we spend a lot of our time in our VW campervan, exploring new parts of the UK and Europe.
"We are really excited about developing a House culture that is caring, stimulating and fun. It is important that the girls are able to use their experience in the Sixth Form to learn the skills that will support them as they move on to the next stage of their lives. We aim to provide an environment that will allow them to succeed and be prepared for their future."
Roderic
"I joined Cheltenham Ladies' College in 2012. I became the Housemistress of Roderic in 2014 and I also teach Biology at College. Before moving to Cheltenham I was an assistant head of house and taught Biology in a boarding school in Norfolk.
My home is in South Wales and during the holidays I spend my time there with my fiancé Marc, who runs his own installations business."
St Hilda's
"I have been working in College for over a decade, having previously lived and worked in several countries. I speak four languages and thoroughly enjoy travelling and reading about other cultures.
I live in St Hilda’s with my husband Jochen who also works in an independent school and we have a son, Cassian, who loves singing and playing hockey. As well as being Houseparent, I belong to the Modern Languages Department, where I teach Spanish in Lower College.
The House environment is warm and welcoming, and the girls are given the tools to learn to be more independent and ready to face life after Sixth Form. Our girls enjoy greater levels of freedom and at the same time take more responsibility for themselves, learning to plan effectively and with self-confidence!
Together with my superb team of House Staff, we would be delighted to welcome you to our thriving community where we will help you fulfil your potential."
