What a wonderful start to the year we have had. For 2025, we are delighted to be working with Longfield Hospice, Gloucestershire Young Carers and St Hilda’s East.
There have been numerous charity events and fundraising initiatives this term, so here is a rundown of everything CLC has done. Thank you to everyone who helped with organising all the events. Our approximate running total raised this term for various charities is £12,200.
Bayshill House welcomed members of Lower College to our charity Christmas movie night this term to watch the Halloween classic, Hotel Transylvania. In the spooky Bayshill House, girls snacked on popcorn and drinks while enjoying the movie. Many thanks to the team at Bayshill who raised over £70 for College Charities.
Many of us at CLC have been affected by cancer one way or another, or we know someone who has. Therefore, along with thousands of other amazing people across the country, CLC staff and students joined in with ‘The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, participating in events across College to support the Macmillan Cancer Charity. We had some superb, joyful gatherings, with many wearing green to represent their support. Members of staff contributed all manner of delectable treats for us to enjoy, and so many donated towards the work of this important charity.
Mrs Isaac, Social Action Mentor at CLC, helped us lead the event, coordinating a plethora of wonderful initiatives with the students. She encouraged some of our pupils to lead a bake sale following the staff events.
We are thrilled to share that our events across College raised just over £700, with the student bake sale adding a further £270 to the amount raised. We know that this will be well-received, and it will help support the outstanding work of the charity.
Ms Woodhead, Head of Lower College and Wellbeing & Personal Development Coordinator
To celebrate the launch of their psychology magazine Emilia, Demelsa, and Arina (SFC2) held a bake sale for Dementia UK, a charity they are passionate about. They baked blondies and brookies and raised £309.32.
Thank you to everyone who helped.
Houses collected lots of items for our Harvest Collection this year. We donated all the food to Cheltenham OpenDoor, Foodbank and St Paul’s Pantry.
“Thank you so much. It was very gratefully received and we're just processing it all. It does make such a difference”
Sarah, Foodbank
The team at St Hilda’s House have been working incredibly hard with second-hand uniform sales this term. They have been steaming, ironing, pressing and pricing uniforms ready to sell. They have already made a staggering £10,619 for St Hilda’s East, our permanent legacy charity that offers services to a variety of ages in Tower Hamlets. Huge thanks to Lola and the team for the massive undertaking that is the second-hand uniform sale.
From Australian Lamington Cakes to Almond Biscotti, Eversleigh’s Charity Coffee Morning embraced a truly international baking theme. Raising £167 for the College Charities, parents and staff enjoyed a convivial coffee toasting the start of the new academic year. Many swapped phone numbers, and siblings were shown around the house.
Thank you to all those who came along to support the event and for the many confectionery contributions. A special shout-out to Juliet’s Jolly Good Jam, which was unashamedly “Perfectly Plum”! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next coffee morning on Saturday 6th December 2025.
Mrs Proudlock and Mrs Bacon, Houseparents
This year was our first-ever litter picking event. Girls from LC1 and volunteer staff went along the Honeybourne Line and the surrounding areas to clean up. Many locals thanked the girls for their efforts.
Noemie and Jacelyn (LC1) share their experience:
“It was a fun experience, but we also faced many challenges, such as climbing steep hills to pick up soda cans and glass bottles, and using the trash pickers to grasp onto tiny objects such as the smallest bits of candy wrapper and cigarette butts.
“We even found pieces of clothing garments and two pairs of black gloves. We found two metal grates embedded into the side of the slope! We learnt to always pick up after ourselves and never litter on the streets.”
A huge thank you to everyone for supporting all our charity events this term!
