Biology Week 2025
Biology Week 2025
Last week, we celebrated Biology Week with an exciting range of activities that brought our CLC community together to explore the wonders of Biology.
On Monday, SFC student speakers opened the week with thought-provoking talks, setting the tone for a week of curiosity and discovery.
Tuesday saw Zoology Club’s special ‘Evolution’ workshop and fossil excavation, followed by an inspiring alumna and keynote speaker, Dr Olivia Ahn, who shared her remarkable journey from medicine to sustainability, and the creation of the first fully biodegradable and flushable sanitary pad. You can read more about the talk in our article here.
Wednesday was hands-on and creative. SFC students took part in a fascinating frog dissection, while LC students enjoyed painting plant pots and planting their own succulents. One LC1 student shared:
“I had a lovely time decorating my pot and chatting with some of my friends. As well as this, it helped me to talk to some of the girls in my year that I haven't yet met so far this term.”
Thursday’s Alpaca Day was a real highlight, with three friendly visitors from Cotswold Alpacas delighting everyone who came to meet and learn about them. LC1 students also released their butterflies from their Caterpillar projects from the last few weeks.
Finally, on Friday, students across year groups showcased their creativity in a Biology-themed biscuit decorating competition, with designs from DNA to kidney nephrons, and enjoyed a lively debate between Miss Fleming and Mrs Dobney on ‘What is the greatest virus?’.
It was a fantastic week filled with learning, laughter, and life sciences, a true celebration of Biology enjoyed by all.
