Economics World Cup 2025

Economics World Cup 2025

Following their success in the UK National Finals round of the Economics World Cup in April, a team of five SFC2 Economics students represented the UK in the European Round in July, successfully leading CLC to the Global Finals.

Over the course of seven days, the competition was split into three sections: ‘Fundamentals’, ‘Deep Comprehension’, and ‘Thinking and Innovation’. The ‘Fundamentals’ section consisted of around 50 questions about economic theory, ranging from topics such as ‘supply and demand’ to measures of inequality, such as the ‘Gini Coefficient’. In the ‘Deep Comprehension’ section, students had to respond to a series of questions based on a recent economic issue. Finally, in the ’Thinking and Innovation’ section, students had to prepare a 15-minute presentation and offer solutions to tackle a pressing economic issue.

After competing against other schools from across Europe, the team was awarded First Place Team in Europe, as well as receiving a number of Individual Gold and Silver Awards. They will now progress to the Global Finals later in the term, where they will represent Europe in the final stage of the competition.

A huge congratulations goes to Betty, Cynthia, Chloe, Angelina and Amy on this fantastic achievement, one which they should feel immensely proud of!
