Mexican Food and Film Evening
Mexican Food and Film Evening
On Wednesday 1st October, a group of enthusiastic UC5-SFC2 ‘hispanists’ went on a vibrant cultural adventure in the heart of Cheltenham.
Pupils visited ‘Paparritos’, an authentic Mexican restaurant, nestled in the town centre. From sizzling fajitas to rich mole poblano, students were treated to a feast of flavours that brought their Spanish lessons to life. The warm, colourful atmosphere and friendly staff created the perfect setting for them to practise conversational Spanish in a real-world context.
After dinner, students attended a special screening of the acclaimed Mexican film ‘Radical’ at the Cheltenham International Film Festival. The film, which tells the inspiring story of a teacher’s transformative impact on his students, in a struggling Mexican school, struck a powerful chord. It beautifully illustrated how education can ignite hope and change lives, an idea that resonated deeply with our pupils.
This immersive experience not only enhanced their language skills but also broadened their cultural horizons. It was a joyful reminder that learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. Our students returned inspired, reflective, and more motivated than ever to embrace the power of education and global understanding.
We’re proud to offer opportunities that enrich our curriculum and nurture curious, compassionate learners. ¡Viva la educación!
