Each September approximately 25 day girls join us in LC1 (Year 7 / 11+) from schools across Gloucestershire.
They join our Junior Day House and are taught in mixed ability groups in most subjects, alongside around 50 boarders. All pupils have access to specialist Lower College tutors to help them settle in and mentor them throughout their initial years at College.
If you're interested in visiting us, please see our Visits & Open Days page for more details on how to book.
From a global education on your doorstep and over 100 co-curricular activities to 7am-7pm wraparound care and easy bus routes across the region, find out why our day students and their families love being part of the CLC community.
Please get in touch with our Admissions team, to check availability of places.
An in-person visit will help you imagine life as part of the CLC community. We hold Open Days at intervals throughout the academic year, or you can book a private tour with our Admissions team.
Please note that pre-booking is required for all visits.
We encourage you to Register as soon as you have decided College is an option for your daughter. You do this via our Admissions Portal, and it means we can keep in touch, invite you to events and inform you of key deadlines.
REGISTRATION DEADLINES
Register by mid-September of Year 6 (open for applications)
Year 7 candidates are required to attend an Assessment Day, which includes group discussions, activities and complete written and adaptive online tests in Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning. The day provides another opportunity for girls to meet their peers and find out about the opportunities at CLC.
Registered parents will be sent a link to an Entrance Exam Form to complete. This confirms you want to go ahead with your daughter's application and enter her for the Assessment Day.
EXAM DEADLINES
Submit an exam form: by mid-September of Year 6
Assessments days: early October of Year 6
USEFUL DOCUMENTS
Each year, we make available a Briefing Paper summarising the subject content and skills we assess along with a suggested reading list, and a link to a Verbal Reasoning familiarisation exercise
The girls with the strongest performance in our Autumn cycle of entrance assessments will be invited to further assessments and interviews for an Academic Scholarship in February 2026. Auditions for Music Scholarships will also take place in the February of Year 6. Our scholarships do not carry fee remission, but Scholars benefit from our bespoke Scholarship Programme.
Our team of assessors review each candidate’s performance across the entrance papers, her engagement and participation during the Assessment Day, and the reference we request from her current Head Teacher.
You will have until the beginning of March in Year 6 to accept your place and pay the acceptance fee and deposit.
In June of Year 6, parents receive confirmation of their daughter's House and are given access to an online portal containing our joining information and forms to be completed.
In late June / early July, you'll have contact with your new Houseparent.
The Autumn term begins at the start of September. Arrangements vary each year, but new students tend to have an induction a day or two before the term begins, to give them chance to settle in.
If you have missed the application deadlines, we are occasionally able to fast track an application, although we cannot guarantee that this will result in a place. For a conversation about late entry options for your daughter, please do contact our Admissions Team via the "Request a Callback" feature on our Admissions Portal.
Our LC1 Day students recently shared in their own words how CLC makes them feel...
