Each year students join Cheltenham Ladies’ College from a diverse range of countries and schools. Meet a few of our International Students and hear them discuss moving to the UK, settling into an all-girls boarding school, and the huge variety of academic and extra-curricular opportunities that are available:
Elodie joined CLC for Sixth Form from Bermuda.
"CLC is a really diverse community of ambitious people.. everybody helps each other achieve their goals"
Ida joined Cheltenham Ladies' College from Germany in the Sixth Form (Year 12)
"I really like that everybody's really open and welcoming and just wants you to try everything and encourages you to do whatever you want to try."
Alternatively, listen to Ida in German:
Augustina joined Cheltenham Ladies' College from Ghana in our youngest year group, LC1 (Year 7).
"It's just really fun to live with friends and other people, and to get to know other people and where they're from."
Simone joined Cheltenham Ladies' College from India in Year 9.
"The best thing about CLC is literally everything. But if I could focus on one thing, it would be how many opportunities we have and how many things I can go for."
Yuiko joined Cheltenham Ladies' College in Year 9. She's from Japan and attended a UK Prep School for two years prior to joining CLC.
"What makes CLC different from other schools and what makes special for me is that our boarding houses are spread apart... I really liked this system because I get to have a nice walk every single morning and after school, which refreshes me a lot"
Abigail and Hannah both joined CLC in Year 9. Previously they attended a Prep School in Kenya.
"CLC really cares about sport, and about work-life balance."
Grace came to Cheltenham Ladies' College from Nigeria in Year 7. She's now in Sixth Form studying A Levels.
"Coming to CLC from Nigeria, there was a bit of a culture shock, but I quickly adapted and made fast friends, and CLC has become like a second home to me."
Areeba came to Cheltenham Ladies' College from Saudi Arabia. She joined in Sixth Form (Year 12)
"It is a very diverse place where everyone is valued and welcomed. As a result of this, I was able to settle in really quickly."
Annika joined CLC from Singapore in Year 9.
"The biggest difference between my old school and CLC is that my old school is Co-ed and CLC is single sex and I feel that you don't have tension in the classroom and you can just raise your hand when you want to ask a question."
Alice joined CLC in Year 9. She previously attended an International School in Thailand.
"I never boarded before, but the house mistresses and the matrons were really helpful and this school is really international so everyone kind of knew like what it was like to be away from their families, so it was really warm and welcoming"
Grace joined CLC from the United States of America in Year 7 (US Grade 6).
"Everybody's so nice and supportive and whether you've just been through a hard time or you're just trying to celebrate something, everybody's there and really supportive of you."
