Higher Education Destinations

We have a long history of our girls securing places in world-leading universities. Nearly all girls go on to higher education, either applying to university during their final year in Sixth Form or after receiving their examination results. Even with post-result applications, the PGC and a girl's tutor are on hand to write her application references, and advise and support our girls in pursuing their aims.

The subjects chosen by our girls always represent a true A to Z of university courses, from Arabic and Spanish to Zoology. Recent choices have included: Applied Medical Sciences, Architecture, Linguistics, Neuroscience, Psychology, Fashion Design, Environmental Policy with Economics, Art Foundation, Computing, Law, the KPMG School Leavers’ Scheme and Veterinary Nursing.

We are extremely proud of the achievements of our leavers. Following excellent examination results in the summer of 2017 and including our 2016 post-result applicants, 139 College girls took up places on university and higher education courses this year and are studying an extraordinary range of subjects in the UK and abroad.

A total of 118 girls are going on to Russell Group institutions in the UK, while many others will be attending leading institutions in Europe, Asia, Australia, the US and Canada. This year, we have nine girls who will be going on to study Medicine or Medical / Biomedical Sciences and 10 who are beginning Law degrees.

Each year, we successfully support a number of girls with their applications to Oxbridge and a range of US institutions. This year, 17% of CLC girls are going on to study at Oxford, Cambridge or Ivy League and other prestigious US universities.

More information about where our girls have gone on to study, both in 2017 and over the last seven years, can be found on our Beyond CLC pages.
