Cambray

Opened in the 1980s, Cambray is named after CLC's original location on Cambray Place in Cheltenham. Together with its sister house, Beale, the two houses form a quadrangle with a large enclosed garden for students from both houses to enjoy.

Within Cambray, our students have individual bedrooms, bathrooms, study spaces and common rooms. The house interconnects with Beale and they share a communal dining room.

From the Houseparent

“I have worked at CLC since 2017 when I joined St Hilda’s as Deputy Houseparent, since then I have worked in Senior and Junior Houses as a Deputy and spent time at a school near Wolverhampton as a Houseparent.  My career has always been in education with time spent specialising in Behaviour and Child Development.  In between teaching posts, I travelled as much as I could with highlights being my time spent in Australia, China and New Zealand.  I live in Cambray with my wife and one day we will go travelling again but this time with our own campervan!

Each year is different with a new group of students learning to live and study together.  It’s important that life in Cambray offers the students the chance to learn about themselves, develop life skills and be able to relax while studying. My aim is for Cambray to always be a home for the girls, with plenty of opportunities to have more independence, more choice and more fun! The girls at CLC have always impressed me as to how much they can achieve and are capable of.  The Cambray House team and I aim to help our girls be the best version of themselves and we will always strive to support them in whatever way they need.”
