We all know the story of Alice in Wonderland: a girl chasing a rabbit, falling down a hole, and meeting all sorts of strange and wonderful characters. Laura Wade’s Alice gives us something a little different. This version still has the magic and madness we expect from Wonderland, but it also has a real heart.
At the centre of the story is a girl who’s trying to cope with something she doesn’t fully understand - grief, change and growing up. Wonderland becomes more than just a weird place with odd creatures, it’s somewhere Alice goes to make sense of what she’s feeling. Every character she meets, every bizarre moment, is part of that journey.
We have all really enjoyed exploring that idea, that even in the strangest, most confusing places, there can be meaning and healing. And that sometimes, letting your imagination run wild is exactly what you need to find your way back to yourself!
The whole Lower College cast has worked incredibly hard throughout the rehearsal process and performances. They have all contributed to the success of Alice by bringing their own unique energy and ideas to the stage. The cast were able to learn lessons about growing up, facing fears, and staying true to themselves just like Alice. Their teamwork, dedication, and the lessons they discovered along the way created something special and truly brought Wonderland to life!
