Awards for Academic Excellence across IB, A Level and GCSE
5th December 2025

Cheltenham Ladies' College has been named Independent Secondary School of the Year in the Southwest for Academic Excellence. This is the fifth consecutive year that CLC has been awarded the title by The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide.

The award follows on from last week’s announcement that Cheltenham Ladies’ College has been named top girls’ boarding school in the UK for the International Baccalaureate (IB).

The CLC Class of 2025 achieved impressive results. At A Level, over half of the cohort (56%) secured three or four straight A*/A grades, while at GCSE more than four in five results achieved (88%) were A*-A / 9-7 grades. An average score of 38.9 points places CLC 24th in the world for the IB, with over half of the students scoring 40 points or higher, a score achieved by less than 10% of IB students globally.

As well as highlighting academic excellence, The Sunday Times also named CLC South West Independent School of the Decade in 2021, celebrating not only the outstanding exam results, but also the extensive co-curricular opportunities, pastoral support, professional guidance, and wider holistic education that is crucial to life at CLC.

Across IB and A Level, the Sixth Form provision is soon to be enhanced by a new state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre opening in Autumn 2026, which will include an employability suite, collaborative learning spaces, pods for focused learning, creative spaces and much more.
