On Saturday 19th February, five Sixth Form students took advantage of a break in the weather between storms Eunice and Franklin, and travelled to Cambridge University to take part in the third Cambridge Chemistry Race. This is a national competition aimed at Year 13 students of Chemistry who race against each other to complete questions jointly set by academics at Cambridge University and the University of Pardubice in the Czech Republic.
A very last-minute change to the team due to isolation requirements saw Lizzie and Jamie (SFC2/Year 13) replaced by two SFC1 (Year 12) students, Lily and Vanessa. They joined Lok, Sophia and team leader, Larissa in team ‘Elementals’.
They did exceptionally well for a mixed year group 12/13 team, coming joint 20th out of 51.
