On Wednesday 23rd March, College Choir travelled to Wiltshire to sing Choral Evensong at Salisbury Cathedral. It was the first time the choir had been able to undertake a visit such as this since 2019, and they all made the most of the opportunity.
Before the rehearsal there was time to view the Magna Carta, which is housed in the Chapter House, as well as sampling afternoon tea in the refectory.
Sixth Form Organ Scholar, Kim, played for the congregation both before and after the service, and the choir sang music by Archer, Harris and Carissimi, accompanied by College Organist, Ms Baldock.
It was wonderful to witness College Choir rise to such an occasion, singing in an inspiring place with a wonderful acoustic. They also appreciated the solemnity of the service, in the knowledge that they were contributing to a tradition of daily services in that cathedral, which dates back 800 years.
The choir was immensely grateful for the support from parents, staff and Guild members who attended.
