Pupils at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating excellent International Baccalaureate (IB) results, with an average point score of 38.6, equivalent to three A* grades at A Level.
Over half of the students scored 40 points or higher, a score achieved by less than 10% of IB students worldwide. Six students scored an impressive 42 points or more, equivalent to four A* grades at A Level.
The IB Class of 2025 has secured places at a range of top universities and colleges globally.
These include St Andrews, University of the Arts London, Birmingham, Cambridge, Exeter, Glasgow and UCL in the UK, and US colleges such as Barnard College, University of Chicago, Santa Clara University, University of Southern California, and Vilanova University.
Courses range from Fashion Management, Law, and Medicine, to History, Geography, Biomedical Sciences, and Philosophy and Physics.
Principal Eve Jardine-Young said:
“I am delighted by the excellent exam results that our IB pupils have achieved this year. This set of incredible results is testament to the hard work, collaborative approach and ambition of this superb IB cohort, as well as the unfailing support of their teachers and pastoral teams.
“The opportunity to study the IB Diploma Programme adds a great deal to the distinctive and holistic education we offer at CLC.”
The school’s results are significantly higher than last year’s UK average of 34.7 and the global average of 30.3, when CLC was named the top girls boarding school in the UK and globally for the IB.
Ms Saunders, IBDP Coordinator, commented:
“I am exceptionally proud of our IB Class of 2025, not for only these outstanding results but also for the hard work, resilience, and creativity that they have displayed throughout the year.”
Mr Sumner, Head of Sixth Form, added:
“With students having met offers in the UK, Ireland, the USA, Hong Kong and Singapore, they are set up to excel as they take their next steps around the world.”
For families who are interested in finding out more about CLC’s IB and Sixth Form experience, our next Open Day takes place on Friday 19th September. Register now to attend.
