College’s IT Support Department is passionate about donating redundant equipment to local charities. This January we had the pleasure of providing a second donation of computers to a local youth charity, The Rock. They are based at St Peter’s Church in Cheltenham and provide a safe entertaining and educational environment for local children.
These machines will enable local children to complete homework and use online learning. The previously donated machines have proved so popular they asked if we could provide more to help with this demand.
The donation consisted of three Dell All-In-One computers. We were helped by LC1 (Year 7) student, Dora, who securely wiped, repaired and then reinstalled Windows 10 on these machines.
It was great to see Dora so involved in the process and wanting to both learn why and what we did to make these machines ready for sale.
We believe that we should pass on equipment to local charities and schools wherever possible as it both reduces waste by lengthening the life of these items, and helps people who may not have access to these computers at home.
My thanks to Dora for her time and enthusiasm.
